What AePS lets you do
AePS is a payment system that works with your Aadhaar number and your bank account. At an authorised merchant point you can use it for:
- Cash withdrawal
- Balance enquiry
- Mini statement
- Aadhaar Pay
What you need
- An Aadhaar number linked to your bank account.
- To be present in person, because the transaction is confirmed with a biometric scan such as a fingerprint.
You do not need to carry a debit card, and you do not enter a PIN.
How an AePS transaction works
- Visit an authorised merchant point. You can find one near you.
- Tell the merchant which service you need and the amount.
- Give your Aadhaar number and choose your bank.
- Confirm with your biometric scan.
- The bank checks and approves the transaction before it is completed.
- Collect your cash or service and your digital receipt.
Staying safe with AePS
- Confirm the exact amount before you authorise anything.
- Never share an OTP with anyone. OUTPAY and its merchants will never ask for one.
- Always collect your digital receipt and keep it until you see the debit in your account.
- If a transaction fails after your account is debited, contact support with your receipt straight away.
Where can I use it?
AePS is one of several services at OUTPAY merchant points. See all OUTPAY services, or read about AePS services in particular.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a debit card for AePS?
No. AePS uses your Aadhaar number, your bank name and a biometric scan instead of a card and PIN.
Does AePS have a charge?
Applicable charges, where any, are displayed at the point of transaction. Ask the merchant to confirm before you authorise.
What if my money is debited but I do not get cash?
Keep your digital receipt and contact support straight away. Failed transactions are expected to be reversed by the bank or payment network, typically within a few business days.
